It's Halloween - Time for Some Creative Photography!

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

I love Halloween. I love it for one reason, and one reason only! I'm not a big fan of sweets.... or dressing up.... nope, I love Halloween because it provides me with the perfect opportunity to get creative. Creating crazy cool light painting pics!

Happy Halloween
Halloween Pumpkin Display - Creative Photography

Long exposure photography is one of the funnest forms of photography out there (In my opinion) - They're are so many possibilities to what you can create, providing visual wonders to amaze the viewers eye.

I was able to get creative last year for a hotel when they asked me to photograph their pumpkin display for social media use. I think they just wanted some standard low light images with the pumpkins glowing.... but i decided to go all out in the hopes of blowing them away (as well as getting some practice in at what I possible to shoot with a tripod and some lights!)

If there is one thing that I have learnt from creating social media imagery, it's that human beings are wired for visual content. Eye catching content captivates us, and holds the viewers focus.

It's great having amazing deals and offers, but you'll need some awe-inspiring imagery to along side it - Stopping those frantic scrollers and tenacious tappers from flying right past your post!

Images like these are easy enough to create. All you need is a tripod, a camera that can be set for longer exposures and remote or timed shutter release (most these days), and a few lights (even the torch on your phone would do the trick).

Once the cameras set-up and pointing at what you want to photograph - Trigger the shutter and have at it! Get creative and play around, see what you can make :)

Feel free to share your creative long exposures below, or get in touch if you would like to learn more about this technique and what we could do to promote your business.

As always, thanks for reading!

Kind regards,

Lee Walker
